Located in Calgary overlooking the Bow River, the Alberta College of Art & Design offers degree programs in painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, photographic arts, visual communication design (including illustration), ceramics, jewellery + metals, fibre, glass, sculpture, interdisciplinary studies and the latest program media arts + digital technologies.

Founded in 1926, the Alberta College of Art + Design offers four-year undergraduate degrees and diplomas and graduate degrees, preparing learners for careers in visual culture and design. Alberta College of Art & Design is one of only four degree-granting, publicly-funded Art & Design colleges in Canada. In 1995, the ACAD was granted degree accreditation by the Alberta Government's Ministry of Advanced Education and Career Development. In 2000, the College was further granted authority by the Alberta Government's Ministry of Learning to award a Bachelor of Design degree to those students studying Design for their degree. Classes are small at the Alberta College of Art + Design, enabling greater one on one interaction between student and teacher. Alberta College of Art & Design is also home to the The Institute for the Creative Process (ICP@ACAD) which is unique in a Canadian post-secondary institution.This institute is focused on research and dialogue that explores notions of creativity, design thinking and ideas and how this can be applied to the wider community.
